It is said that the Pinot Gris found his second home in Badacsony after France. Sophisticated and elegant by origin, our Szürkebarát is refined thanks to a drop of residual sugar. All this without losing its lightness, which can make it a festive wine for everyday occasions. This Pinot Gris was harvested in the second half of September 2023. It was made with a controlled fermentation, reductive, because Szürkebarát retains its varietal character better with this technology.
A true princess, it demands your attention and makes a Monday evening special.
Pinot Gris
A variety of French origin, hence the name Pinot Gris – called Szürkebarát in Hungarian. Later the Italian named it Pinot Grigio as one of their most favourite vines. It has been resident in Badacsony since as early as the 14th century. Legend has it that the variety was re-domiciled into the region by some nearby monks because they were in search of a grape that would yield a likeable wine in every single year with no sugar added. For there must be no sugar added to sacramental wine. Today, this variety is typically used to produce dry wines in the Badacsony wine region

Due to its higher residual sugar, works well with poultry dishes with sweeter sides or good pairing for pastas.
